THE BJG STORY

Blue Jeans Golf was an idea born out of passion, impatience, and ambition. As friends living on opposite sides of the country, Devin and Michael would regularly discuss the game they love, vent about its challenges, and hypothesize solutions. Over time, convictions grew stronger and a vision came into focus. They had a choice to make – keep commiserating or create the change they wanted to see. They chose action, quit their jobs, and pushed the chips into the middle.

Enough about the past, we’re all in on what’s ahead. Rooted in experience – having spent the last 10+ years in leadership positions at Topgolf – and fueled by a passion for golf, we are fired up to build the future of the game – one shot at a time. Devin Charhon

Co-Founder

Devin is a thinker who loves to re-imagine existing frameworks, especially golf. He approaches opportunities with a competitive spirit and finds himself balancing his ambition with simple solutions (it's why he partnered with Michael). While his creativity is an asset at work, it’s often a liability on the golf course as he attempts shots he doesn’t have in the bag. But as Gretzky said, "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

Prior to launching Blue Jeans Golf, Devin spent 6.5 years at Topgolf leading real estate development as the company grew from 10 to 60 venues. During his last two years at the company, he was Head of Emerging Concepts where he led the business strategy, design and operation of a new 30-50 bay venue prototype powered by Toptracer technology.

Michael Canfield

Co-Founder

Michael spent the majority of his career crunching numbers in finance roles across investment banking, private equity, and corporate finance. Finally, he followed his passion by co-founding Blue Jeans Golf with Devin to transform a game he grew up playing on munis across New Jersey. An inability to sit still means he is out golfing, running, and playing volleyball or tennis in his free time.

Prior to launching Blue Jeans Golf, Michael was VP of Finance at Topgolf, leading capital markets, corporate development and long-term planning. During that time, he managed Topgolf’s IPO process and eventual sale to Callaway Golf, in addition to raising $2+ billion of financing for Topgolf across real estate, debt, and equity.

Josh

Buhr

Operations

Josh has loved being in the grind of operations for as long as he can remember. His desire to seek constant improvement and solve problems on the spot, paired with the need to always be doing something, has become a match made in heaven between Josh and operations. When not working, Josh stays active playing with his 2 young girls, working around the house, or enjoying time outdoors.

Before joining Blue Jeans Golf, Josh spent the last 15 years in hospitality in everything from restaurants, to fitness clubs, to entertainment. Most recently, Josh spent 6.5 years with Topgolf leading operations at multiple venues, creating and implementing operational strategy for emerging concepts, and leading operational efficiency projects across the brand.

Marissa Olberding

Marketing

Marissa joined the BJG team in May 2022 to lead the marketing efforts. The definition of a sports fanatic, she has built an exciting career in the sports and entertainment industry. Her competitive attitude and drive is what pushes her each day to make BJG better and is also probably why she continues to remind the team who won the first-ever team Toptracer challenge.

Another former Topgolfer, she spent her Topgolf tenure working with operators and Marketing Managers, curating national campaigns and spearheading pre-open marketing. In 2018, she ventured into professional sports, as the Marketing Manager, The Star District, for the Dallas Cowboys, working with The Star in Frisco tenants and Jones Family Enterprises. Most recently, Marissa worked at an agency as the Account Director for Toyota.

Tanner

Micheli

Development & Construction

Tanner is a non-stop high energy personality who’s passionate about excelling in all areas of life… sometimes to a fault! His competitiveness, work ethic and do-whatever-it-takes mentality always forces the best out of him. He’ll tell you that he’s “totally stoked” to now be part of the Blue Jeans Golf team, as he comes from a hard-working, blue-collar upbringing. He first got introduced to the game of golf in high school when he landed a job at the local country club and it’s been part of his life ever since!

 

Prior to Blue Jeans Golf, Tanner was the Director of Real Estate Development for Topgolf leading over $1 billion of development projects across the US & UK. One of his proudest accomplishments is leading the vision, design and development for Topgolf El Segundo, the company’s first venue + green grass golf experience. Prior to Topgolf, Tanner held a number roles in the commercial development industry.
